God calls us to do justice in the world. The book of Jeremiah chapter 22, verse 3 says:
“This is what the Lord says: Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of the oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place.”
The Southwestern Texas Synod is working to faithfully follow this call by:
- Learning and promoting learning about marginalized communities so that we can be better allies
- Speaking out about injustice in statements, letters, and sermons in line with our Lutheran theology
- Creating and recommending policy and practices that honor the dignity of our staff, church members, and neighbors
