Join Pastors Megan Elliott and Bethany Hull Somers to explore how people of faith can engage in social movements as an expression of justice and public faith. Participants will reflect on theological foundations for justice, examine real-world examples, and gain practical tools for organizing, advocacy, and community engagement that embody the church’s call to seek justice and love neighbor.
Becoming a Neighborhood Church (Peace Housing Project)
This workshop explores what it means to become a neighborhood-centered church through the lens of the Peace Lutheran Church Peace Family Housing Project. Participants will learn how this initiative creates transitional housing for families experiencing homelessness, offering short-term stays, shared community spaces, and supportive partnerships that help families move toward stable housing.
Through this example, the session highlights how congregations can leverage their space, relationships, and resources to meet local needs—reimagining the church not just as a place people come to, but as an active presence of care and stability within the neighborhood.
