Register Now! - Fall Leaders Convocation
Encuentro: Leading from Liminal Spaces - November 1st, 2022
The Fall Leaders Convocation is back!
This year we'll have one convocation occurring simultaneously in three locations; Triumphant Love Lutheran Church in Austin, Zion Lutheran Church in San Antonio, and Galilean Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi. Together we'll explore liminal spaces, aided by the wisdom of Rev. Dr. Jay Alanis and local conversation facilitators. The main site will be Zion Lutheran Church in San Antonio, where Rev. Dr. Jay Alanis will be speaking live and in person.
Please register for this event here. All locations will use the same registration form and have a place to indicate which location you intend to attend or if you will be joining us online.
Keep your eyes open for more information as it becomes available and for opportunities to engage Encuentro before the convocation itself.
Anti-Oppression Training - Free Offering
The synod Inclusivity, Diversity, and Equity team would like to invite you to attend the synod's Anti-Oppression Training. This training is designed to offer some basic vocabulary, history, and allyship models as we strive to better live out our baptismal promises and love our diverse neighbors. Rather than focusing on a single topic of oppression or marginalized community, this training aims to offer a broad base foundation for future learning in more specific areas.
The training is available on Saturday, October 15th and Wednesday, October 19th from 9 am to 3 pm via Zoom. There are several opportunities for breaks throughout the training and a lunch break over which we have the opportunity for some group discussion. While this would typically be offered at a price, we are pleased to offer these two dates at no cost. Register here.
Lutheran Hymn Festival - To Everything: A Season
The Music Ministries of Abiding Presence and Zion Lutheran Churches invite you to a hymn festival, led by conductor and organist David Cherwien, Artistic Director of the National Lutheran Choir. All who assemble will join the mass choir in singing of hymnody and song meaningfully woven together with reflections written by Susan Palo Cherwien.
The free event takes place on Friday, October 14, at 7:30 pm in the sanctuary of:

2023 Synod Assembly - Early Info
We are trying something new and will split the 2023 Synod Assembly into two parts!
The first part will occur on April 22nd and will be an All-Synod Learning Day. This day will encompass much of what you'd find outside of the assembly business including our speaker(s), workshops, etc. We plan for this day to be held in person in three cities across our synod and also available online. It is very likely that those cities will be Austin, Corpus Christi, and San Antonio; however, as we are familiarizing ourselves with the details and needs of this type of gathering any details are tentative and subject to change. Anyone is welcome to join us for the All-Synod Learning Day
The second part will occur on May 6th and will be a Synod Business Day. This gathering will be entirely online, will consist of the business portion of the assembly, and the audience will be primarily comprised of our Synod Voting Members.
