Southwestern Texas Synod, ELCA
Mission and Ministry Opportunity Grants - 2008
GENERAL INFORMATION
Purpose
The purpose of the Mission and Ministry Opportunity Grants is to provide financial support for the congregations/commissions/task forces of the Southwestern Texas Synod to "equip the people of God to be instruments of God's love." These grants will help synod congregations/commissions/task forces develop various means of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in new and inventive ways. The hope is that these programs will combine ministry components to encourage and enable mission outreach to the community.
Application
Any ELCA congregation/commission/task force/advisory team of the Southwestern Texas Synod may apply. The attached application form must be completed and returned to the synod office before September 15th. Application for grant funds may be made in consecutive years. Applications will be divided into three categories:
1) young congregations, those less than ten years old;
2) congregations or worshipping communities;
3) synod commissions, task forces, or advisory teams.
Awards
Grants of up to $2000 may be awarded to applicants making requests. Grant funds must be matched by the recipient, except in category #1 above, "younger congregations."

Grant awards will be determined by the Synod Executive Committee. Grant funds will be sent to the recipients before the end of the award year.
Grants will be awarded at the discretion of the Synod Executive Committee. Any funds not awarded will be held in the Mission and Ministry Fund account for distribution in the next award period.
