Recently, our synod has reignited our relationship with our companion relationship with the Lutheran Church in Costa Rica (ILCO). ILCO has had a turnover in leadership and has developed a new strategic plan for the next few years.
logo_ilcopngThey are a small but powerful witness in their country. The goals of their strategic plan are to: strengthen faith communities, grow leaders, and accompany and advocate for the most marginalized and impoverished populations in their country: Nicaraguan immigrants, the indigenous peoples, women, young people and those with diverse gender identities.
bulletin-insertAs partners with them in God’s church, we are asking our congregations of the Southwestern Texas Synod to consider having a special offering/making a gift during the season of Advent to the ELCA campaign to help strength the Church in Costa Rica for Mission and Ministry. We have included weekly Advent reflections (Spanish) that tell stories of their mission and ministry. We also have a bulletin insert (Spanish)  describing how to give and what this giving would enable. As videos, pictures and articles become available that share more about their story, we will be posting those on our web site for your use as well.
