Commissions
There are four Commissions for the Southwestern Texas Synod. Congregation Life, Communications, Mission and Professional Leadership. The Synod Assembly elects a chairperson for each commission to serve a four-year term. The members of commissions, their committees and committee chairpersons are appointed by the Synod Council.

Professional Leadership

The function and purpose of this commission shall be to recruit, endorse, support and approve prospective candidates for the roster of ordained ministers, associates in ministry, deaconesses, and diaconal ministers and to provide a system of support and ministry to those on the rosters.
The Commission for Professional Leadership’s (CPL) mission is to recruit, endorse, support and approve prospective candidates for rostered leadership in this church and to provide a system of support and ministry to those on the rosters.

Congregational Life

Communications

The function and purpose of this commission shall be to develop an overall communication strategy for the synod and to recommend policies for its implementation.
The Commission for Communications assists the synod in having strong communication tools, such as the Vista, a 10 time-a-year publication delivered to every member of the Southwestern Texas Synod, and the Colleagues newsletter, a publication generated out of the synod office and delivered to all rostered members of the synod with pertinent news and information.

Mission - Outreach

The Commission for Mission works in a variety of venues of mission in this synod and includes Campus Ministry, Ecumenical Ministries, Global Missions, Inclusive/Multicultural Ministries, Mission Partners, and Outreach Committees.
