Church in Society Introduction Page
In response to a number of resolutions (Resolutions #5 – #10 and Resolution #12) that came before the SWT Synod Assembly in 2005, the assembly charged the SWT Synod’s Commission for Congregational Life (CCL) to follow up on these resolutions. Resolutions #5 - #10 dealt with social concerns. Resolution #12 addressed peace in the Holy Land. The CCL reactivated the synod’s Church in Society Committee to address these concerns. This web page is one of the methods the Church in Society Committee is using to pass along to readers information pertinent to these resolutions and to other social concerns.

There are many ways that ELCA congregations in the SWT Synod are helping with social needs within and beyond their communities. Those outreach efforts by congregations serve to inspire other congregations and to give them ideas for service opportunities within their own communities.

To that end, the Church in Society Committee is asking congregations to share in short article form some stories of the outreach ministries that are happening in their parish.   Those stories, like those below, can be submitted to Jim Sorensen at jcsorensen@satx.rr.com or Mag Holm-Roesler at mrhr816@austin.rr.com

Below are testimonies for our synod congregation’s community outreach:
