Synod Library
The Southwestern Texas Synod’s "Synod Library" is located in the Lutheran Ministry Center on the campus of Texas Lutheran University. The center is open to all congregations, their committees, task forces, or disciples (lay or rostered) who seek teaching resources, information on educational or mission needs.

We are all the ELCA
The ELCA has 65 synods throughout the US who unite the work of congregations within their areas and serve as regional support. Our synod has 134 congregations including 4 missions and 10 synodically authorized worshipping communities; the ELCA has nearly 10,500 total.

Our synod covers 78 counties in Texas and is divided into six conferences.

Synod Emphases
Hispanic Ministry - We are very intentional in outreach to all people, especially Hispanic. Our Hispanic Ministry Coalition Council will lead this endeavor. The creation of “El Instituto,” an ecumenical lay training center in the Rio Grande Valley, will help growth in leadership and mission.
Cooperative Ministry - We seek to work together for the good of Christ’s church, being supportive of each other’s calls and ministries. We currently have one cooperative ministry that includes 5 congregations and 3 clergy on staff.
Evangelism Strategy - Following the ELCA’s Evangelism Strategy, the synod has established an excellent task force to implement this emphasis. Educational opportunities and spiritual growth events will be offered for all.
Youth and Youth Ministry - Youth in this synod enjoy senior and junior high gatherings, with a combined total of over 1000 in attendance. There is also a Young Adult Resource Person (YARP) team of college-aged youth to assist congregations.

ECLA Churchwide
Organization
The ELCA churchwide organization functions interdependently with congregations and synods to carry out God's mission in the world - to share God's boundless love with the world. The ELCA is guided by the biennial Churchwide Assembly, the Church Council, and the four elected officers of this church.
The ELCA also has staff who work from the Lutheran Center in Chicago, Illinois, and from locations around the globe. Staff members serve as administrators, advisors, conveners, and resource people for this church and its ministries. Each of its individual departments (called units, offices, and sections) share a common goal to advance the mission of the ELCA.
